We recently travelled to Antwerp to perform a spinning disk laser service. Our customer in Belgium has an older PerkinElmer UltraVIEW spinning disk system with a Melles Griot laser engine. The Acousto-Optical Tunable Filter (AOTF) had failed, meaning that the 514nm and 561nm laser modules were no longer properly functional. Without reliable 488nm and 561nm laser lines, a system can easily become redundant, so it was essential that we resolved the issue. After some preliminary investigation, Alan diagnosed that the 24-volt power supply to the AOTFs had blown – by swapping this out and confirming AOTF pairing with the controller, he was able to restore the 561nm laser to a healthy emission. Another spinning disk system back up and running!

Atlantic Imaging are keen to help maintain your UltraVIEW systems. The CSU-X1 head has been a mainstay of the Yokagawa lineup. It offers extremely fast imaging speeds and is a powerful tool for live cell imaging. Ideally, pair it with a Hamamatsu Flash 4 V3.0 or a Photometrics Prime 95B for superb results. As research budgets get squeezed tighter, Atlantic Imaging can offer new or ex-demo components to build complete systems based on your X1 head. We can also supply new diode laser engines and tie them into your Windows 11 system. We can advise on software and supply a package to drive the whole lot!
